BENDING BAMBOO GROWS THE FUTURE WORKSHOP, 23 JULY - 3 AUGUST
CAN THO DOET, NAM CAN THO UNIVERSITY, AND FUTURE GENERATIONS UNIVERSITY
PURPOSE OF THE BENDING BAMBOO IC5 WORKSHOP
This Workshop continues the training of Can Tho high school teachers who have participated in past Bending Bamboo iC5 events.
It also introduces this communicative approach and collaborative production of materials to new secondary-level educators of Can
Tho schools.
The Workshop welcomes 50 participants to Nam Can Tho University for ten days of instruction and facilitation, meeting six hours
per day, 8:00-11:00 and 1:30-4:30, 23-27 July and 30 July-3 August. This number includes returning teachers and others who are
new to Bending Bamboo.
The deliverable of the Workshop will be a Repository of Materials and Lesson Plans to augment all ten units of Tieng Anh, level
11. Participants will then strategize how to address levels 10 and 12 by the end of the year. In producing these materials, participants
grow their English language competence and confidence, and they strengthen collaborative and communicative methods and
techniques.
Attached is a ten-day schedule of the Workshop. Reading horizontally, the four recurring elements of each day are the “what, how,
why, and for whom” of Bending Bamboo. Reading vertically, participants learn how the Bending Bamboo process creates lesson
plans and materials to augment Tieng Anh texts.
